I recently moved my 8 (1 escaped and was quickly found by a barn cat 😢 ) button quail (5 weeks old) into a new, more secure enclosure. A bunny hutch! Now they live in Bunny Town with our 20 bunnies :). They are doing so well and are so happy, I have a new appreciation for them!!! I have been sprucing up the bunny hutch with fake plants, drift wood, straw, a sand bath, and some plants from around our property to make the hutch more quail-suitable. I was wondering what types of plants I could give them that would enhance their lives? To eat/play/hide. Are there any poisonous plants/trees that I should avoid? I also wanted to know if there were any treats I could give them. Or seeds I could start and then put into their enclosure 🌱? Also, when should I separate them into pairs/trios? When will they begin to fight? I have 3 males 5 females (I think?). I may post pictures so ya'll can help me with colors and genders. Thanks!

here's a pic.
my quail love bugs, kale, clovers, and grass. They should stay away from buttercups or nightshade family.

They also like small bits of apple, peanut butter, millet, strawberries, and raspberries. They like to hide in tall grass, any bush, oregano plants (which can be eaten by them.)
and i'm going to tag some people to tell you more :) @Green Bean Quail @Nabiki @Fenrisulfr

I'm not too familiar with Buttons, so I can't tell gender or time to seperate pairs.

Beside sage, which shouldn't be used for quails, I can suggest oregano, tym and rosemary as herbs to grow with them.
Weat gras wouldn't do any harm.

But keep an eye to their poops, too much fresh greens may cause diarrhae.
