my 2 year old son’s daycare class hatched out 12 chickens so of course I had to take 2 home with me. I’ve never had chickens before but am already loving it. Have 2 females and I have no clue what breed they are. They’re 6 weeks old now and doing great.
What are some plants/bushes I can put in their chicken run that will grow well in shade?

I plant plum tree outside the run and the fruit do fall inside. The chickens have shade and also provide some vegetable.

Welcome! Shade plants will do best outside of their run! Use tough natives, avoid toxic plants, and fruit is a bonus.
You don't mention a location, and pictures of your set-up will also help.
Viburnums are good, for example.

Not sure what grows well in the shade in your area, but I’ve planted shrubs and flowers in my run and the chickens pretty much leave them alone. I chose plant that won’t harm them if they do take a bite and I placed large concrete blocks around the base of each plant to protect them from scratching. In this pic is American Beautyberry and Black and Blue Salvia. I’ve also planted bee balm, butterfly bush and dwarf clumping bamboo. They do eat the leaves off the bamboo, but the plant is still alive as of now... In the past I’ve planted marigolds and oregano for them to nibble on, but they weren’t interested. They loved the pansies though!
