So I was thinking up of a way to make my life easier with all this quail poop and was wondering if there was a plant that can live in quail poop?

Idoubt it. Quail poop is very hot and will burn the plants. My plan is to till it in to the garden this fall before snow flies.

Are you trying to use it as fertilizer? or keep the plant in an aviary?

If the former, it's good to let the poop 'rest' a while. Either in a compost heap mixed with other non-hot items (such as brown material - leaves, cardboard, etc) or spread out very thinly over a wide area such as a lawn.

If the latter, you can add a heavy layer of mulch (such as bark chips) over the soil top & either leave it be or rake out the mulch after a while & replace with new (depending on how big your aviary is & how many quail you got).

Best of luck!

I was hoping to keep it under my quail cage to absorb some of the poop as it falls down. I guess that's not happening. I've been using it as compost but it's pretty strong and it's already burned a few of my plants even after letting it sit for 2 weeks. I'll try mixing in some carbon material to see if it helps any.

do you combine the poop with compost when making your compost tea? or do u just mix the poop with water? what's the ratio you're using?

I Put Several Large Handfuls In A Five Gallon Bucket, Fill It Up With Water,Then I Add A Tablespoon Of Horticultural Molasses ToThat. I Have A Small aquarium PumpThat I put In The Bucket And Let It Run For 24Hr. After That I Run t Through A Stainer Then Water My Veggies And Flowers With It. It hasn't Burnt Up Anything Yet,So I Guess I'm Good To Go...
In The Past, I Used Composted Chicken Manure, But Since I Have quail Now, I Just use their poop.
How This Helps.

Oh Yeah,,,,Try And Not Use Tap Water. It Has ChlorineThat Will Kill The Good Bacteria You Need. If That's All You Have, Let The Pump Ruin ForNo Less Than Twelve Hours To aerate The Water And Remove The Chlorine.
