I like the plastic ones. I save the empty ones, then use them to fill with dirty shavings when I clean the smaller silkie coops. Then they just get burned.
I try to recycle whatever they use. When it was paper, I used them to put household paper in for recycling. I'm currently using the plastic ones for trash cleanup. We live on a farm that was unoccupied for about thirty years and had an old logging road into it. County has no trash pickup, so guess what ended up being the neighborhood dump? Now we at least have a private company that will pick up trash for a fee, and takes recyclables for free. So I put the trash in the plastic bags since they're stronger than regular plastic trash bags. Once a week or so, I load my pickup with rusty metal and haul it over the mountain to recycle. Haven't figured out yet how I'm going to get the rusty pickup cab and bed into the back of a Chevy S-10!
I don't like paper because I tear them getting them into and out of the car and waste a lot of food.
Sorry, but I'm going to be the odd one out and say I was VERY glad to see them switch to plastic.
Out here in WA, if you don't have a super-tight, super dry room (you'd need to be rich to have a DRY room) and nothing around to possibly tear your bags open, you're quite prone to getting moldy, lost, or eaten grains. . . I'd rather have a "harmful" plastic bag that will protect my grains than a paper bag that tears easy (before I even purchase it, sometimes) is very prone to getting damp, growing mold, etc.

Our recycling center takes them.
i like the plastic because they don't tear as easily. I also use them for trash, they are much stronger.
LOL, We have a logging road to. Will try that.
