Thanks, I have been using power tools since I was 12. Now I'm a grandmother. So my duck house isn't ANYWHERE nearly as impressive as CapFarm's, but my ducks JUST sleep there. You'll notice that I do have a play yard attached along the outside. This isn't a secure nor safe run. This area is only for them to eat in the mornings and right before bed, while I stand there with them. Otherwise, at night they'd eat and go right back out on the pond and never be safe at night. Also, the duck house is located on a peninsula (? basically a small lip of land that juts out on the pond. If there was ever any possibility of this flooding, I can promise you that it wouldn't be there ~Just a side note for anyone that may be concerned) on the pond. I LOVE Cap's floor!!! My duck house has a wood floor with vinyl over it, but I am going to have to change that now that I've seen Cap's! I need that flooring! You can also see that this play house has some age. I was very attentive about noticing any weakened (dry/dry rotted) areas, as that would render more work to make this safe. I knew this would be a possibility, so just keep in mind that you'll need to keep an eye out for that. If a screw breaks/busts the plastic then it's not going to be secure without working on the areas needing attention. My daughter is 8 years old and this play house was around before she was. These things must age well somewhat. View attachment 2094483
Glad I could inspire you. I am planning to go through all of my coops and hutches this year and update some things. Fix up ,clean up, and paint. Sometimes a small thing like a misaligned latch can be really aggravating.I am feeling inspired too! Cap's is amazing and I feel some much needed upgrades in the very near future! Here's hoping I can find another one for my bantam chickens. Although if it turns out anything like Cap's, my other two flocks of chickens will be very jealous of the baby bantam coop!
Wow! You're impressive! Your kids and Grandkids are so lucky to have you to teach them important life skills like this. Too many folks don't consider knowledge and ability to use power tools/or any tools, for that matter, a life skill. I'm 40 (plus 1, hahaha :-/ ) and just started! My daughter is 8 and I'm going to make sure she learns along with me. Now if I can just learn how to cut my own wood at all the different lengths and angles, I'll be on a roll! I bet you are able to do all of it, and that's something to be very proud ofThanks, I have been using power tools since I was 12. Now I'm a grandmother.
