Plastic sheds as coop Ideas

Yeah!! Thank you so much for the info! It shouldn't be too hard to get an opening with a jigsaw for an entrance to the run...hmmmm...and use the same for windows, I suppose? Great ideas! I am also interested in a stained glass window...JenBird, do you have any pix/prices of your work? Do you do Silkies??

Even this planning stage is so much fun! Any add'l pix of plastic sheds as coops would be great (I love looking at coops...such an illness...)

Here is a sample of my work. I used to keep a website but all of my work was by comission and word of mouth so it didn't make sense to pay for a website. This is from my facebook page. Let me know if you have trouble viewing it.

Prices and subject matter are hard to give a blanket answer for. We can always talk about price and design and see what we can come up with. I have no overhead because I work out of my garage and everything I do is an original design, no prefab patterns.

WOW, JenBirdRansom! Your work is AMAZING!! I will definitely be earmarking your fb page for when I am ready for that window! I actually have a couple of transom windows in my house that I would love to switch over to stainglass - it is a "theme" in my home. Thank you so much for sharing!

I just came across this site in my planning stage for chickens in the yard. I too have been kicking around the different types of sheds, wood built by me, prebuilt (too expensive and not enough space) and have decided to go with the Lifetime shed. It is a dual wall, has skylites and windows, and two sets of double doors. We are going to expand it out a bit with extension kits, so we can use the doors on the side for the coop part, and doors on the end for related storage for feed, bedding, treats, and so forth, with a divider to keep the hens in their side. I'm searching for a way to add a coop automatic door, also. I like the auto antanne one so far.

The lifetime sheds assemble easily (there are video's on their site) should be sturdy enough, low maintenance and are an attractive addition to the yard. Our 15 Red Star hens will be free range on our 1.5 acres, but also will have a run for those times when we don't want them running all over the place.

Can I ask how ou add roosts in plastic sheds? We just added a 4x6 plastic shed to our coop and run area. We built a little wood walkway between the run and the new plastic shed space and it worked well. No I need to figure out how to put w roost in there. Would you just drill a hole out and caulk it, or do a ladder style roost?

I have sawhorses in my plastic shed coop. That idea might not work for you in a 4x6, but it sure is easy. We have the kind where you just buy the metal clasps and you supply the 2 x 4s for completing the sawhorse.

This is almost identical to the one I want to get for meat birds. Did you ever get it and how is it working out? My biggest concern is ventilation, but we will make it work. What modifications did you make to yours?

I have 3 coops. of those three 2 of them are the plastic sheds. I LOVE them. I have an 5x8 for my bannys and an 8x10 for my dtandard chickens. Easy to clean, STURDY (i have alot of bad weather in my area which includes tornados) and not that hard to build.
