Plastic weed liner and chickens

Newbie here full of questions.
My first ever chicks arrive July 13th.
Plotting best place on my lot for my birds. It’s is a city lot in Az. Large lot.
Most folks here don’t grow grass. Which means gravel over a plastic weed liner. I can remove the weed liner from a run area without too much trouble but if I let them run the entire back yard they will find the liner as it is aging and exposed in areas. Do you think they will pull and peck at it just because they can, and end up getting plugged up?

They will definitely pick at it. Not sure if they will eat it. They will tear it up while scratching around. Probably doesn't taste very good.

I worry too much lol.
I raised retrievers for 25 years. They eat anything and can end up in the vet’s office.
