I've been looking at my silkie babies, who are almost 8 weeks old, and I'm noticing similarities in crest development between them and the polish babies I had last year. The silkie chicks who I think are boys are developing mohawk-looking crests right now, and the ones who I think are girls already have rounded, floofy crests. Same as my polish did last summer...

Dixie's crest looks mohawkish (is that a word??) like my little ones that I think are males. So does Pepper's. Ginger's doesn't really, though he/she has a big comb. Ginger's crest looks less like a mohawk than the others. Is it possible that even with that big comb, Ginger is a girl?

I don't know, it's so hard to tell if they have a mohawk or poof. I keep staring at them and trying to figure it out!

Does weight/size matter? Pepper and Ginger are 2x larger/heavier than Dixie and Pixie.
