Ok so my mom fell in love with the look of quail. She said they are soposto (spelling) tast good. Well it looks like we would have to hatch them. Could you all tell me every little and big thing you know about them! I need to know every thing!!!!!!! Thanks!

Hi Chicken Girl, yes deffiantly check out the first post at the top of this Quail forum. It should help you out emensly and your mom is correct they are very good as are their eggs

Main things, they hatch in only 16-18 days, take only 6-8 weeks to mature (and be ready for butcher). They can be housed in a rabbit hutch and do fine in the winter weather as long they are kept out of drafts...can also be trained to a water bottle

Oh yes! They learn water bottles very quickly. Mine caught on in just a few minutes. I guess it probably helped that they were out, and the bottle was dripping when I first hung it in there. They still like their pop-bottle waterer better though.

If you want to try a few first, check out the health food and ethinic markets in town, I cn find them at both every so often (rabbit is also there).

Seperate housing, about 1sqft per bird, many people make cages similar to rabbit houses but with hardware cloth wire (they're too little to use chicken wire).

Mine live in a colony cage in the chicken coop.
