Please advise, chicken doesnt return to hutch!!

One of my two hens does not go back to her coop at sundown, instead she climbs the stairs to our house and sits at the backdoor, she poos there and it is very irritating. I then have to carry her downstairs, she is so big that it is horrible as I have to squeeze her to keep her wings from flapping and she gasps!!!
This is not pleasant for either of us so why doesnt she just go home like her flatmate does?

She loves you and wants to be with you!!

I would suggest locking her up in the coop for about a week. Then, try letting her out again and see if that doesn't encourage her to go back 'home' each night.

lol, I am sure it is love, this chicken RUNS to see me!!
I may just try that, they are so noisy though when they are locked up, these chooks are too spoilt!

If you keep putting her in the coop say for a week straight, do you think she might change her mind and go there by herself.

Maybe you shouldn't squeeze quite as hard and she won't gasp??!! You are right, it doesn't sound pleasant.

I would think she feels safer with you, she sounds like a sweetheart and you should make room for her in the house ! But seriously, I guess you are going to have to be firm and lock her fat bottom up.

I know, the gasping sounds harsh but she gets scared of heights on the stairs and does alot of flapping!! She is a sweety, I bought her from the RSPCA by herself and assume that she was a pet. So do you suggest I lock her up for a whole week day and night? This walking her back has been going on for about 3 months so she hasnt got the picture!
