I was afraid to get them too close. I must have missed the soften her food part. I was just giving it to her normally. I'll do that then! Should I make it mushy soft or liquid soft?

I wonder about ear mites. If they get in their ears they can cause balance problems. Look it up on here for treatment, something about dropping veg or olive oil in her ears w/a dropper. Good luck with your baby.

She isn't doing any better since this morning. I went to the feed store and they sent me to talk to a 30 plus year experienced show chicken guy. He thinks it's possibly Marek's or mites. I don't see any mites though. I just went to check on her and give her fresh water and I noticed she is breathing with her mouth open and keeps wiping it on the ground. Is that part of Marek's? This is new she hasn't done this before. Argh I feel frustrated! I guess it's pretty normal to want to solve things when it comes to those you care for. I also asked around about a vet that treats Chickens and came up empty handed. Hubby wants me to take her in because he doesn't like the fact I'm not sleeping. lol

Is she squatted down on her hocks? The back of her upper leg? I had a chick start doing this and acted fine every other way except could not walk and would tip to the side as though dizzy. I thought it has hurt itself until a couple days later another started squatting back on it's hocks. Turns out is was a B vitamin deficiency. I put a drop of liquid baby vitamins without iron in each one's mouth. The second one was fine the next day...I could not tell which one it was. The first one gradually got better each day. Now, today is 4 days after first noticing them and I can't tell which one was the first to get bad. I also got some B complex and crushed a tablet in their feed. I am feeding medicated chick starter and sometimes that can cause it. Worth a try I guess.

Thank you. I actually started her on some vitamins and electrolytes today. I'll have to check to see if it has B vitamin in it.

Is she a silkie? Could she have brain damage? I have had two silliest do this. It improved with vitamins and time

No she is a Frizzled Cochin.

Yes, that's exactly what she is doing. She flipped over again and managed to get herself back on her feet before I got to the cage. She feels really boney today even though she is still eating.

OH boy, I hate to say this but I think it maybe Mareks. They get really skinny but eat like a pig, usually the dead give away is when they do the split. OH shoots...
Well a vet once told me what I should look for when I first started out with chickens. He gave me a list of different diseases, symptoms to look for and what do to do if I ever came across a problem. I'm looking up Marek's right now, Hang on.

OK, he has down with Marek's you have 3 choices.
One to cull her after you do you should burn the body so that the others can't get it..
Two keep them as comfortable as you can until they pass or
Three keep working with her but if she recovers chances are she will be come a carrier.
The symptoms are:
Progressive paralysis, usually of the leg or wing, a typical leg-paralysis victim will have one leg extended forward and one leg extended back. A swelling of the sciatic
nerve is the cause.
• Weight loss
• Labored breathing
• Diarrhea
• Starvation and death due to an inability to reach feed and water and to trampling by penmates

I'm not saying that is FOR SURE what your chicken has but with the symptoms that you have giving to me, it's a possibilty.. Sorry wish I had better news...
