Hello,
I really need some help trying to figure out what is going on with some of my chicks necks.
I have 6 wks old Red Goldens, Yellow and Ringnecks
About 2 1/2 weeks ago I noticed 1 of my ringneck chicks having a problem with it's neck at closer inspection I noticed it was going off to the side and just thought it was a defect. But now about a week ago I noticed 1 of my red goldens having the same problem and now yesterday another one that is only 2 weeks old. I am really worried about what is going on. I have tried to do so much research but not knowing what is happening it is near impossible so I am hoping somebody knows something.
I could understand 1 bird having a problem but not different breeds of different ages
. PLEASE SOMEBODY HELP ME FIGURE THIS OUT!!!!!
I feed my birds Purina starter and they have alot of room so they aren't overcrowed by no means. I bleach everything every Sunday and then rinse very well. I have kennels in my garage that are temperature controlled. I use household water
Please ask me any questions that may help figure this out.

My guesses: either a nutrient deficiency or a very serious illness. For a nutrient deficiency, try buying Poly-vi-sol (infant human vitamins) WITHOUT iron and put it in the water. Don't worry about overdose if there's no iron. For a serious illness... I'm sorry, but about any illness that causes neck problems needs to be dealt with immediately, which means culling them. Since it's different breeds and ages with the problem, and it's been in the last week, I think you have a big problem going on.

Sorry, I hope it doesn't spread any further.

I've actually never heard someone state an exact dosage. When I had chicks doing that, I was told to put a dropperful in their water, even some down their throats, and not to worry about overdose because it's water-soluble if there's no iron.

Thanks for the info.
I did seperate them and bleached all the pens again and then went and bought some of the vitamins and started them on it last night. The one that just started doesn't look to be as bad and I'm hoping it's not because I haven't had my full cup of coffee yet. I did find some info on wry necks and it looks like that may be it but I still don't understand how they get this since the food is for gamebirds?
If you think of anything else let me know

Thank You for that posting it was great to read and I think I learned more but I will keep on researching. It does sound like that tho' and the pix also match.
