I would let her drink. She feels she needs it. How would we know better.Me too , I don’t know weather or not to let her get a drink before no go to bed.
I just went out to prop the door open so the hens could start going to bed and Notail had gotten out of the nesting box , when I opened the door she came out to get a drink. I put the nesting material under the nesting box where she was so she could lay back there.I would let her drink. She feels she needs it. How would we know better.
Oh, I hopeI am very worried about Sweetie, she is not acting normal, and feels cold, and looks pale. Not sure what’s going on there.
I should explain I had to come home from work to wrangle chooks this morning, I neglected to lock the back barn door and one of the horses must have pushed it open (Reenie no doubt), once I kicked horses out and dragged chooks back in I noted Sweetie was laying on the ground not getting up and moving around.
As I had to get back to work, I gave her some antibiotics, and half an aspirin at 11:30am. Then I put her in with Mr P so she could be under the Sweeter Heater if she wanted to warm up.
She was still not normal when I got home, still pale and cool. I don’t know if she got injured with the horses or if she is brewing some illness. She received some Tylenol around 6:30pm; when I head out in a bit I’ll give her more antibiotics.
These chooks are as much worry as the horses.![]()
Yes it is. Apt analogy.![]()
Oh goodness, they are adorableHi everyone. I am way behind but I have a freshly brewed pot of coffee and am going to play catch up tonight. Before I head 2 weeks back I wanted to give a update on my 4 little fuzz britches. Every since I heard them referred to as that it has stuck in my head. They are 3 weeks old now and are thriving. If they keep growing at the rate they are I think in another week if the temps finally warm up they can start making field trips outside during the day. So far this is a unusually wet and cool spring. Calypso aka Splashy, well, now she has me questioning if she is truly splash at all. Her feathers are coming in white. She could very well be a dominate white. I will not truly know her coloring for a few more molts and there is still time for those splash marking to make their appearance. Truthfully speaking, if she is white I am 100% ok with it. I have been wanting a white silkie for a while now. The 2 partridges, one is a blue partridge the other is a black based partridge. I will again have to wait a few more molts to see their final adult colors and patterns. The only one I am for sure of on a adult color is Bluey. I think she is going to be about 2 shades of a lighter grey then her daddy Davy. Similar to my cochin girls I think.
Here are some pictures of them I took a few minutes ago after cleaning their brooder. They are already working hard at wrecking it.

Oooohh, you should have to pay SHRA tax more often is this is what you pay with!!!
Poor dear. I wonder if it is an impaction further down? Would be unusual...but I have heard of it.I call her one tail. After molting she didnt regrow all her tail feathers. ( I have another one called no tail)
Anyway she was great on Tuesday, causing trouble as always and then Wednesday morning she just laid around, drank water but didnt eat.
Same yesterday, and last night she must not have felt she could get up on the roost because she was on the floor under the roost this morning with poopy hinny, she didnt stand up to do business.
she got a bath, she couldnt stand herself up. I had a leghorn that acted like this once and she died in the night.
She has been drinking electrolyte/probiotic water today, but I had to put her in a crate so she wouldnt drown herself. she was drinking and it wouldnt go down cuz her crop was already full of water.
I did turn her and drained what I could out of her crop, it was just water and did not smell.
so while I was giving everyone a bath I kept her in the crate. I dont think what she has is cotangent.
Her comb looks fine, not shriveled and pale,
