I've been away at school as my young birds have been growing up and just received a few photos. Does this chicken look like a boy or does it just have some longer tail feathers. I already have two roosters in a flock of less than twenty-five so I really can't have another.

Dang. Thanks. Guess I get to call Murray McMurray in the morning. Can't say I'm too happy with them, three of my birds died within a month and the rest are pretty terrible quality. My first time ordering online and probably my last. Oh well.

How many cockerels did you get out of how many birds ordered? Hatcheries, MMM included, usually promise a 90% success rate with sexing. After all, the chicks are sexed by humans by squeezing out the poo then looking up the vents. I'm always amazed that they usually do better than 90% accurate--what a job! So if you ordered 25 chicks and got one cockerel, then that's well within limits and they did nothing wrong.

I've found MMM to have very good quality for hatchery birds, and their EEs lay better than any other hatchery I've used. If you want breeder quality stock, you have to buy from a breeder.
