Please can anyone help me ASAP Please help please!

I did accedently post this twice on another form and we have a one year contract with ends in September and we are in the process of buying a house now and in the lease we signed it clearly stated that any pets are allowed. Maybe he doesn't consider chicken "pets"?

You have 32 acres, two teenages come on your property, kill your birds, harrass your animals, and you move? Makes no sense to me. Why move? Why not go after the kids who are BREAKING THE LAW? Some one come on my property, which I pay for, damage my property, which I pay for, I AINT moving, the problem will be resolved, but not by me selling out and moving on. I guess I must have missed something in reading the story. It certainly is not the way I would handle it.

I don't think the law considers chickens as pets either. They are usually classified with livestock.

Maybe he doesn't consider chicken "pets"?

Amen ChickenGeorge! I'll be darned if I'd move off 32 acres because of some teenage punks.

Okay well what happened way before the teenages came on my property we had hunters come on our property, shooting turkeys, deer, ect. Almost shot our dog once too. We called the cops and they handled it. And no we really didn't want to move either we loved that house. But after that it happened again, we called the cops, and then it happened again, and then the thing with the chickens started happening and then when one of our dogs was almost killed we just decieded that was it. But in a way I am glad it happened because now we are buying a bigger house then what we had before with 20 acres of mostly clear land with barns with electricity and plumbing and we are getting it for a lot less then what we paid for our old house. The other house did have 32 acres but it was all woods. I called the feed store about an hour ago and they said what I thought, all our pens are full, I offered to bring one of our old dog kennels down for them to stay in and she said she would think about it... But if they say no I hope tiffanyh can help me.

Thanks so much,
Sophia

Why haven't you called your landlord to see if that was really a message from him directly? And he would definitely have to give it to you in writing before you would have to do anything! Even if the lease said no animals/pets, he would still have to give you something legal saying you are to remove the animals from the property. And then if you didn't he would have the right to have them removed. You should really contact the landlord first (sounds like someone messing around!).

To deal with that, you'd have to clearly post signs saying, "Private Property, No Trespassing." You'd have to make sure they were clearly visible from any point of entry. Just for laughs sake, you could also post an addage like, "Trespassers will be tarred, feather and hung upside down by their toes." Hopefully they'd reconsider and move on.

But as for the dead chickens, were they shot? Or was it some other non-descript way? And yes, I wouldn't have let the teenagers off that easily. My property is My property, and I will defend it with all I can. Unfortunately, that's what you have to do with some people.

Well I did call the landlord numerous times and still havn't gotten an answer. But I do know for a fact that the person who called works for the landlord because he is his father in law and when he called on my Caller ID it came up as AJL Interprises, so I know it wasn't just one of my neighbors trying to trick me. I just hope my chickens will be safe and I can't think of not going out there every morning to feed and them and have them run up to the door to be let out. And I have eggs in the incubator that are due to hatch in a week, I can't just throw them away...that would be like murder lol. But since I will probally be out of here in a month and the chicks will have to stay inside anyway I don't think that should be a problem...well atleast I hope not. I'll keep you updated!

Maybe I'm a bit dense, but if you are in the process of buying a new house, then you are in constant contact with people in the real estate field that would be better equipped to give you good answers in this area.

Aside from that, it seems like a whole lot of trouble to go through trying to find somewhere for your birds temporarily, rather than speak to the landlord directly, speak to the police directly, or like I said, speak to the individuals (real estate agent/mortgage folks/etc.) you are working with that would have better knowledge of landlord/tenant legalities. There is surely someone around that could give you an idea of where you stand legally. Have you pulled out your lease agreement and read it?

If you are buying a new house, why do you not go directly to your landlord and speak with him/her face-to-face and explain that you are moving and will only be in the home for a short time? I just don't understand any of this but, like I said...maybe i'm just dense.

i would write your landlord a letter stating what you believe to be the agreement between him and you. make it certified. and ask that he reply to you within a certain amount of days, what his understanding is and ask him to send it to you certified.

that way you have no misunderstandings and you won't have to worry. you can start taking prompt actions instead.

if you're afraid someone will try something in the meantime, then take action immediately. if any was to happen, the letter will help you with recourse.

btw, if the guy that called you was the landlord's in-law....i bet he's not answering you because now there's a little family quarrel going on about who's butting into who's business.
