Please check out our fuzzy butts * Pics*update???

I agree - Barred Rock. NOT SLW. I have both.

I would be disappointed if I got BR instead of SLW. I like my Wyandottes much better than the BR. I currently have 1 GLW and 1 SLW pullets. In about 3 weeks I will be adding another GLW and 3 BLRW. My GLW is very friendly and was a great layer all winter. She layed a large to x-large egg every day. Now she is laying an x-large nearly every day that does not fit in cartons very well. My SLW just started a few days ago after taking the winter off.

Sounds like you have some beautiful birds. I'd love to see pics.
Thank for the input.

UGAchick - the pic you posted is not a SLW either. SLW are black chicks with white markings typically around the face. Could it be a GLW?

Ok, I'm new and got one mystery chick that looks just like that. However I ordered 5 barred rock hens and 2 roos too. My barred rocks have white bottoms. They look like little diapers from behind! Too cute. But the other one is a little smaller and does not have white underneath. Based on mine, I'm gonna have to disagree with the BR votes, but what do I know?

Your little one will be fun to see what she(?) turns out to be

looks like a BR to me, but i'm not that familiar. i do know that it is NOT a SLW

here's another link to what a SLW chick would look like... much stripe-ier and varied in color, not so black and uniform with one white spot on the head.

also, what type of comb do they have? wyandottes have ROSE combs... if your chick has a single comb, it probably is a BR... even if it does have a rose comb, it is more likely that it is a dominique.

Those images were great Definitely BR's I went back to feed store. He wasn't too accommodating.
Does that usually happen..." OH WELL YOUR PROBLEM" I was kind of surprised because we've shopped there for years.
No matter they have a home with a friend that lost many of hers to preditors, We;re going to go over and make sure the coop is proofed.
But I'll raise them for awhile.
I want to thank you for your responses... this wasn't an urgent problem, but it was a puzzle. Thanks again
