I was worried about this little chick and so I purchased it with 4 others. It was the smallest one & the others were really being cruel to it. It was wet & sticky. I wiped it down with warm water, wrapped in a towel and dried it carefully. I separated it from the other chicks I bought right away. It went poo and that seemed normal. No cuts or bleeding. The right eye looks a little swollen and bruised possibly and it does not want to open that eye. It will open the left eye, but it seems to be unable to stand up. It's not eating although it did peck at some starter crumbles. It is not drinking either. I'm very worried. It's in a box by itself with pine shavings just sleeping under the heat lamp. What can I do to help this little one? I'm so afraid that it's too weak or dehydrated to recover. Should I try to give it water in a dropper or anything else to eat? It struggled in there with so many bigger chicks knocking it around so I know it's got some moxie, it just needs some help now.

Do you have Nutridrench? Or maybe electrolytes? If so, it could be dropped onto the beak drop by drop as it drinks them, so it can get some hydration and nutrients...

Hi @DuckDuckGooseMum :frow Welcome To BYC

I'm sorry to hear about your chick:hugs
Do you have any photos?
Where did you get the chick?

I agree with @Mixed flock enthusiast try offering some Poultry Nutri-Drench to see if it will perk up. Getting fluids into her is most important. You can try wet chick starter after you get her drinking.
If you don't have PND, then give her drops of sugar water.

I hope she pulls through, keep us posted.

Hello! Thank you for your help! I got the chick at Tractor Supply. Evidently they had some kind of mix up and the chicks were labeled incorrectly and placed together willy nilly. This little one was clearly the smallest of the lot and had been picked on by the others. When I saw it the poor thing was being pecked by several. It looked almost naked and wet & was desperately trying to stand but was shoved about pretty badly.
I don't see any open cuts or obvious wounds. The right eye looks a bit swollen and it's not wanting to open it. The left eye is opening well but both under eye areas look bruised.
A friend from another site really came to the rescue last night and showed me how to set up the box for it & advised me to make a boiled egg and offer the yolk & some warm sugar water and the little one drank & ate very well! I was really concerned it wouldn't make it but it's a tough lil thing!

Thank you so much for the support and information! I'll definitely be purchasing some Nutridrench just in case! For now though the little doll seems to be improving and is eating & drinking increasingly well so I'm very encouraged thus far! Praying things continue to improve!

Thank you so much! Yes indeed! The lil thing was not looking good at all last night and I panicked a little. I think it expended all its energy just to stay alive and it was spent! Thankfully it is improving but I still don't know if it suffered neurological damage or other injuries so it's far from being out of the woods. It's baby steps, I know. I'm so grateful for the advice & support! I'll definitely keep updating her progress!
