I hope someone can guide me here as I have to rehome the roos, however I can't seem to identify them for sure!

I think these 3 babies are boys but???

Dad is a stunning EE roo, moms are sexlinks (some red, some black, not sure whose chicks these are).

Since EE's have small combs and wattles and sexlinks do not, how can you look at babies and figure out which gene they inherited?

Pics taken at almost 5 weeks of age.

Thank you!

My guess is #3 is your roo, look at those tail feathers & wing colorations, the sturdy legs, signs of wattles growing under the chin. That comb! Looks like a cocks-comb to me. ..................

But I'm no expert, still learning daily here.

Yeah, #3 is a definite roo - in attitude, also!

But I'm guessing these 3 are all boys, they like to spar alot and raise hackle feathers and bump chests... with the EE genes in there it's hard to tell with combs and wattles alone, but then again sometimes dominant girls will have the same behaviors so I'm stumped!

I guess I will have to wait a few more weeks and see...

#3 is really the only one that stands out to me. it has the EE rooster comb. But since they are mixed with a sex linked its hard to tell about the other too. The first one looks more like a pullet. My 2 EE hens chest bump alot so I wouldn't automatically assume they are boys because of that. They are very pretty though!

I'd love other opinions on these babies, I'm so scared of making the wrong assumptions!

They are HARD to sex!

That's what I thought!

At least I'm not crazy

I will wait another 3 weeks to see the hackle and sickle feathers develop (in the absence of definite boy combs and wattles) and then off they go to their new families...
