Thank you so much everyone.

I guess what I was looking for is just wanting to know if it's all that bad that chickens live like that? Do some people just keep them cooped up all the time? Is that a terrible thing? Or is it just my opinion?

Lots of chickens are not free ranged. As long as they have adequate floor space, access to feed and water and are kept at a comfortable temperature, they are fine.

OK thank you. I'm new to chickens yet so I really don't know. I guess mine are living at the Hilton then

I went over this afternoon and the chickens were laying under the shade tree in the kennel.

They have their big waterer out there.
I told him I would bring some grit over because he hasn't had a chance to get some yet, he wasn't home so I left a bowl there.
