I can handle brutal criticism. I want to breed for the best. I bought what I could afford, I know they aren't perfect but I would love outside opinions. I know what I think, I would love to hear what you think! I love them no matter what and they are great pets and give me delicious eggs, but in the long run, someday, I'd like to show so I want to be breeding towards showable birds.
Let's start with my rooster: Jack!

I hope these pics can give you a good idea of what he has going for and against him. If you need more let me know what you want and I will go take them as best I can! Thanks!

I can only praise them because they are beautiful. I am not familiar with the perfect standard or what takes to be that. All my chickens are pets and they are all mutts. I still LUV them. My RIR are from cheap stock, so they are looked down upon by some and referred to as Production Reds. It still makes no difference to me. I still Luv them the same. If I took my chickens to a show, I think the Judges would set the Dogs loose on me..

... So bottom line for me..... NO SHOWS... Now if you want to enter shows, I encourage you. There is a lot to learn to reach the higher shelves.

WISHING YOU BEST

I own one of the newer versions of the 'APA, Standard of Perfection' so I will judge him the best via that c:

Orphington disqualifications: Yellow Beak, shanks, feet or skin.

Orphinton Info: Should be around 10 lbs if he's over a year.

Colour Critique:
1. Disqualifications: Does he have any white feathers or more than 2 white tipped/edged feathers?
2. Eyes on black orps are supposed to be dark brown, his look Amber.
3. Beak is supposed to be solid black
4. Legs/Feet look to be okay, maybe a bit on the lighter side

And his comb doesnt have the five points C:

He's a 7 month old and from mottled black cross so that might explain the beak and leg and eye color. I'm not sure... I am hoping to start a black/choc split line from him and if I get any mottled chocs I will enjoy them... :)

Yeah, I'm new to mottleds also. His daddy was split to black and his mommy was black so he inherited very little of the mottling. I just figured someday on down the line maybe I could get start a black line off of him. I have a black hen I will be breeding him to eventually also. Thanks for your awesome input!

Yes..the standard is 10 pounds for a cock..but..a 10 pound cock would be small in the show...my cocks all run closer to 15 pounds
