We hang a bottle of hand sanitizer right on our coop--it does not freeze in the winter, and my kids just have made the habit to use it when leaving the coop area before headed back to the house. I think it helps me feel less worried. But when I go out to get eggs only, I use the sanitizer before I head back with my basket, but had never really been worried about the inside of the basket, the handle of the basket that I am touching again with sanitized hands...or after picking the eggs up again and putting them in the carton I forget to wash again in the house....my concern was more with the germs from the coop area, but not what is on the eggs...this thread brought my attention to that. WE have never gotten sick or anything, I hope I am not being too lax
