Please help, 18 weeks buff orpingtons and a barred rock, He or she????

Thank you all for your comments:) I am going to rehome 3 of the Roos and try and keep one. I will try and get some new chicks, hopefully hens this time. We will see how the one roo does, if he's mean then I will rehome him too I guess:) I will miss them all. They have all been great!! Fortunately my uncle who lives down the road said he would take two. So we can still see them. And my sister might take the other one!! She lives close too:)

That's great that you'll be able to see them! It's always hard getting rid of roos you're close to. Especially when you have no choice but to give them to someone who you have no idea what they'll do to them. It's a shame roos are so randy, otherwise we wouldn't have to worry about our pets ending up at freezer camp. Glad you could get family members to look after them.

I say get rid of them all. You didn't want a rooster to start with, why keep one just because you got stuck with them accidentally? Use that coop space for another hen and get more eggs.

Hey now, some people really enjoy having the boys around! They look good, and add a little extra protection to your flock. Plus, they're nice to have around if you ever decide to hatch some chicks of your own, rather than buying new ones over the years. If you were raising a large flock solely for egg production, I can see where you would want to have as few roos as possible. But this doesn't seem to be the case. Besides, this person raised these guys, so I can see how they'd probably be pretty attached to them by now. I think jiborello made an excellent choice.
