Hi all thanks for the add...I have a flock of 5 ducks 3 female 2 male...males are roughly a year old...we recently rescued a 4mo old female and shes seperated now we keep her in a pen next to the duck run so they can see her and be face to face without hurting her...its coming to end of spring and our males seem to really want to mate her and they are aggressive...we only let them in the yard together once and they couldnt go a few mins without trying to mate her...they dont seem to be trying to hurt her but she is scared and trying to get away...if anybody could offer any advice on our situation would be greatly appreciated..... p.s the males seem to prefer our 1yr old buff female to the other 2 females she has a bad bald spot but no bleeding or cuts

Drake's are rapeing machines. Look it up on YouTube You'll see countless videos of Drake's attacking poor Hens.

Might want to just separate them until those guys cool down a bit. Or if you don't think it's too bad just let them do what they do.

My dog is the regulator whenever a duck gets out of line she gets excited and ultimately puts the ducks in check.

:welcome
I am in the same situation. 3 14 week olds ducks and 2 1 year old ducks. The 1 yr drake has to be separated 24/7, that’s all he wants to do is go after the littles. I separated my whole back yard, older drake on one side and the others on the other side. He even gets separated at night time in the pen. It will have to be this way until the littles start laying eggs or fall season comes when Mr. HornyToad calms down. It sucks, but it’s what I gotta do. I hope you will find a way to keep the peace. It’s a great place here so feel free to ask questions!!!

I free range all my Ducks together daily. I have two three month olds and two Hens that live with them. Plus I have my Drake and 3 more Hens in another Run. My Drake breeds the older Hens and the younger ones keep a good distance from him..I never worry when they free range. I just don't House him with that group.
He only breeds the mature Hens and runs off the young ones.

Thanks everyone for advice i think we are just gona seperate the boys till end of summer...we really dont want to re-home either of our drakes
I have 2 drakes, they're seperated 23 hours a day unless supervised. I'm hoping they calm down with age. If not I'll be looking for lots of females next year!
