hi so i was out doing my chicken chores and i seen my one year old barred rock standing there kinda puffed and eyes closed and then she tryed to poop and black and white watery poop came out and then she went to sit next to a gate and just sat there with her eyes closed cold it be that she has not had any oyster shell i give them grower feed so my chicks that live outside do not get any layer feed and i dont give oyster shell i make them egg shells but i have not for a while i have not had the time but i am about to make some right know what could it be please help ASAP i dont know what to do

Can't hurt to go a head and give the eggs shells. I double bag with zip lock and use a rolling pin. not too hard or time consuming with the rolling pin. Good luck

thanks the egg shells are in the oven right know im gonna go see if she will eat some scrambled eggs she loves them and if she does not run after them then there is something wrong:barnie

I don't cook my shells, just let them air dry real good.

ok she ate the eggs but is still not acting normal what do i do

I would purchase a bag of crushed oyster shell and have it available in a bowl every day under the roof. The chicks won’t take more than a peck at it, but the hens really need a regular supply to lay strong eggs sonce you are not feeding layer feed. They can suffer from thin shells and possibly have broken eggs internally.

Can you examine your sick hen, feeling her crop, look her over for weight loss in the breast area, feeling the lower abdomen for enlargement. Check her droppings, and watch how much she is eating and drinking. Offer some chopped egg, chicken feed mixed with a lot of water, and smear in a tsp of plain yogurt.
