PLEASE HELP ASAP! Broody Hen, Mites, Gave Up on Eggs

Thanks for the replies. We put the eggs back in the tractor and and put our broody (?) back in there. Hopefully she'll be inclined to sit. If not, bummer.

You did exactly what I would have done. Pretty much all you can do is see if she'll take them or not. I think embryos are tougher than we give them credit for, myself.

I hope you're right! We're still seeing some mites, so I hope it's just that the DE and neem haven't had enough time to knock them out. It's definitely a learning process! Thanks to all for the kind words and input.

My new broody had some mites too... lots of firsts for us this month. I used DE but did searches on here and lots of advice to use wood ashes. So I put wood ashes where she dust bathes and took out her nest material and burned it and put wood ash in her box with new nest material... put the eggs back, and it is looking good so far. I don't know how or why wood ashes work but they are free and natural : )

If the eggs had already been started to set on and were warm they wouldn't still be good after that long a time. She will lay again before she will set again...or at least that is my experience. I am looking for some red/brown speckled sussex chickens and or fertile eggs is you happen to know of anyone. Have blessed day
