Please help- broody goose on nest for 30 days

My toulouse goose has been on her nest for 30 days. I don't hear any sounds from the eggs and the nest stinks- should I assume it's a bust? She's three years old and has tried to hatch babies every year with no luck. Is a goose's nest usually stinky or is it just a sign that all the eggs have rotted? If I were to candle now, could I tell anything?

Well she definitely has some rotten eggs in there. but maybe not all. You´ll know which ones are rotten if they slop about inside, if they stink, and, of course, you can candle them, but just hope they don´t explode while you´re doing it!

You never know, there may just be the odd survivor!
