PLEASE HELP cats using my garden for their toilet!!!!!!!!!

I'm sure most of you know this (cat owners should)...not ALL cats bury their tootsies! It's a territorial/marking thing...just like spraying. Male (& female) cats will spray EVEN if they're fixed as a sign of 'marking' their territory. I have 6 cats and only ONE of them 'marks' by spraying and SHE is mostly an outdoor cat! She gallops in the undeveloped farmland on the other side of our development. Our neighbors cats on the other hand, like to mark/spray all over our porch, get into our coop/run, has torn up our living room screen (trying to attack our indoor cats) and tootsie all over our yard. (They can't get into ONE of my veggie beds due to chickenwire fencing BUT sprays it instead!)

One thing that has worked is burrying toothpicks in the soil with just about 1/8 inch sticking up above the surface. Trust me, even the squirrels (tree rats) don't like this! A super-soaker water gun or long-range spray bottle worked on ONE of her cats. I really want to get a super soaker with deer "lure" (ie pee) and douse that EVIL furball with it so he'll stink up their house when he goes inside!!! Heck...I'd pay good money to soak him down with skunk spray! I'm also surrounded by dogs so they like my yard as well! I'm working on the 'fencing' of my yard but it's kinda tricky.

We're thinking of using a 'havaheart' trap to catch the buggers (they know better than to come anywhere NEAR me) and returning them to their home (after a deer pee soak perhaps). It'd help if the neighbor FED her cats and actually NOTICED when they were missing....heck...her pit bull was running down the street the other day...were they out looking for her? NOPE...just figured she'd come home eventually.

Hmmm.....bebe gun is sounding real good to me too! I tell you her ONE cat runs a WIDE circle away from me after my spray fest on her one really COLD night! (Caught her sleeping in my nest box). I SOAKED her...! In WV, cats are considered vermin...so not 'protected' under the law....hmmmmmm.

I say start trapping the 'offender(s)' and turn them into the local animal shelter. If the neighbors care for their pets...they'll go looking for them. If not...they'll hopefully find a new home...far away from your yard!

I have learned that a .22 to the brain will stop a cat from doing just about anything, except twisting and dancing. Sorry if this is crude, but I don't have a cat, but I have had neighbor's cats give birth in my boat and hiss at me when I try to get something, kill baby birds on my porch, kill squirrels and chipmunks in my yard, etc. Did I mention the dirty cat prints on the 2010 Buick in my carport with catprints SLIDING down the windshield? BS BIGTIME!

Does your cat have a litter box it has access to?

My former outside cat would pee outside, but he always went #2 in the box.

I'm personally getting tired of the neighbors cat crapping out where my chickens are and not covering it. I'm going to have to get my Havaheart out again.

I don't have a Cat! It's the neighbor cats that come and use my yard!

I have set a trap, unfortunately it was a squirrel trap, that's all I had and they flung it around the yard getting out. But it appears there are so many they just keep on coming back.

If I could trap them I would like to dunk the trap (and them in cold water) for a while. I want them to develop a REAL AVERSION for my yard without actually doing them bodily harm. Although when I am cleaning up "tootie rolls" every morning my mind does stray to many of the more extreme methods!

Moth balls do work but are very very toxic and I would not use them anywhere I was planting vegetables, but they would be ok in flower beds. I suggest raised beds and fencing.

Our neighbour has 2 cats and we have one. The neighbours were there before us and so were their cats. the neighbours cats poop on our front lawn everyday but they don't go past a certain point on the lawn, this must have been thier territory before we moved in with our cat. the cats next door and my cat don't get along.

I know it's nasty to clean up. I have cats and think it's nasty too. But try to not turn into one of those people who kill the neighbor's pets. I have almost completely wonderful neighbors, but one house has people that put out poison for any and all animals. I'm kinda wishing someone would poison them.
You've gotten some good suggestions so far. Have you tried any? I've done the chicken wire covering the ground with success.

And the one big truth- If you get rid of one cat others will show up and they'll be warier and smarter, and much more difficult to live with.

Imp- made peace with cat poop.

Trap 'em and send them to the Humane Society - if your neighbor comes along and bothers you tell them they kept Crapping in your yard and you turned them into the Humane Society. Tell them how would they like it if you pooed in their yard? I use to take a shovel and THROW the dog poo into my neighbors' yard for letting their dog poo on my yard.
Suits them right. Of course, our other neighbor let their dogs poo in our yard, so we'd take our dogs to poo in their yard LOL but that was all jokes and giggles. The other neighbor was the jerk

I put about three cubic feet of sand, about three tubesand containers, on the side of the house, and the cat has used it ever since. We have a kitty door so she can go outside, and she usually heads for that sandy area to go. In the summer she prefers to pee in the neighbor's fresh bark mulch which upsets him no end, but he is one of those people who would complain if you hung him with a new rope...
