Please help. Chick with broken leg

Hello all,

I have a chick hatched yesterday who can move around a little but doesn't stand up. His left leg is to the side a bit when laying down. I'm pretty sure it must be broken. Is it humane to try and raise him or will he be miserable and not heal correctly? I don't want him to suffer though. Do chicken express pain with peeps?

Any advice is much appreciated.

May be splayed leg, common in chicks.

Take a band-aid and follow the diagram. Also put him in a heavy short drinking glass w, paper towel at the bottom. This will help him get his balance.

I agree it sounds like splayed leg. they rarely have broken legs that young their bones are still bendy. try the band aid fix above, I have had good success with it. keep us updated good luck

How long does it usually take for them to build up their strength? After I posted the questions last night I found and tried the bandaid trick. He seems a little stronger today. He can get to water and food but prefers to sleep lying down alot.
