I was doing my usual checks on my chickens at night to make sure they were all fine and settled, next day one of my chickens had her foot caught and was laying on the ground with a giant wound!!!
It looks like the other chickens attacked her and since she was stuck she couldn't defend herself well enough (though I'm not sure what happened 100%) and I'm so worried because they got through a lot of her flesh to the point you can see her skull. Vet is not an option right now but when I'm able to I do want her to get checked out, but that won't be for a while..
The chickens always kinda pecked at each other but I thought that was a bit normal, not to this extent though.. I did some research and applied diluted iodine after cleaning what I could and sprayed blue-kote on the open wound to help cover the bleeding.
Another main problem is that she will not eat or drink ANYTHING. She barely moves in the separated box I put her in, and I haven't seen anything on how people feed them if they get attacked like this..
Is there anyway to save her?? How often should I put iodine and blue-kote on her wound?? Will she make a full recovery even if she eats and drinks less? Please help, any advice helps
I also do not have photos to show as it was a bit horrifying to look at so I got to work quick on covering it but it looked like the skull was showing and the flesh around it was moist but the skull itself seemed kinda less moist? I don't really know I'm sorry if this doesn't help. She doesn't move too much probably from shock or stress I'm assuming?
