My 3 1/2 month old rooster has been extremely tired, won't eat and has only been drinking just since this morning. I offered his favorite dried mealworm treats and he didn't even want them!!! He's usually a hog with them! I saw him poop and it was a DARK brown liquid, unlike his normal poop which is light brown goo. Yesterday he was eating fine. He's just so tired and sick it's stressing me out I don't want to lose him!!!!

I'm attached to him and he's so friendly, he's my favorite chicken!!! Please help and say any reccomendations, tips, cures or ANYTHING! THANK YOU!!!

You may want to feel his crop (in the mornings is the best time--it should be flat) and look him over very closely for mites and lice. He should have built up immunity to coccidiosis by this age, but they can still get it especially if new chickens have come in or the cocci oocysts have been brought in on tires or shoes. If his crop is full in the morning or he spits up and has a sour smell he may have sour crop or impacted crop. Here is a link to crop problems: http://www.the-chicken-chick.com/2012/04/answers-from-chicken-vet-on-impacted.html

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR HELP!!! His crop is squishy and saggy but he hasn't been spitting up. In the morning I'll feel his crop to check if it's full. I just checked him for lice and mites I don't see any. Thanks so much for the link, it's a huge help!

Sadly he didn't make it through the night... We tried to drain the crop and only a dribble came out. If he would of made it through the night we would of brought him to the 4H poultry leader to fix since it was our meeting that day... Poor little guy...

Rest in Peace Salsa

Sorry for your loss... FYI, sometimes their crops don't empty because the dying process has started and organs are shutting down.
