please help! chickens toe about to fall off!

If the tissue is really dead, and you don't cut too close to healthy tissue, the bleeding should be minimal and stopped with firm pressure for five minutes. Then dress and bandage. (I'd coinsider perhaps a drop of crazy glue if it were my bird and it needed closing) but with no one there to monitor her I'm torn.

I'm hoping for better a suggestion from the pros here.

For me, i use a wet teabag (with pressure) to cauterize wounds that won't stop bleeding and have had tons of success with it! I do not know if it works for chickens i hope an expert stops by to read my post so i know. Best of luck with your lovely ladie <3

Leave it alone. It'll fall off and with you leaving it's better that way. If it is still there when you get back you can worry about it then.

I had this happen once. The tip of the toe came off after a soak in warm water with just my fingers gently. Once the tissue is dead and dry it should just come off like nothing.

ok guys... i did it. we ended up canceling the trip so i cut it off. and guess what? there was no blood at all. lorretta didn’t even squawk! i smeared aquafor on it and wrapped it. she walks so much more normal. thank you all for your post! i don’t know what i would do without all of you!:love here’s a picture right after the cut. the foaming is from hydrogen peroxide.
