Egg shells can provide some calcium but not enough so just supplement the way your doing. If she is young and just started laying she’ll probably lay steady for at least two years with breaks in that time also. Once they hit two years they can begin to slow down but they won’t stop completely. I think every breed is different my Muscovys are going on 7-8 and they just began laying for this season my Runners and Buffs laid straight through for 18 months when they first started laying. They are going on 3 and this year took 3 months off before I got an egg this morning I got a Buff egg . Main thing is good nourishment and exercise to keep them in good shape for laying and not to let them get over weight.

Could you please also tell me how often to give supplements? I'm guessing you can't feed it every day?

My best guess about her age is that she's under a year old. She was pretty small when I brought her home (looked teenager-ish) and this is her first batch of eggs. And I didn't know they lay eggs through the year. I will have to start paying more attention to what she's eating with her laying now.

@Miss Lydia what about those calcium citrate pills that I got at Walmart since she can't find oyster shells? I think you can buy oyster shells at amazon too but they cost a lot there. Do you have Tractor Supply where you live? It sure would be helpful if your location was on your profile.

@Miss Lydia is right. I'm not in the US. I did actually look on Amazon India for oyster shell. They have one brand there but it hasn't been available this whole time which is why I settled for the chicken egg shells.

Haha sorry about that. :p I will add my location to my profile.

Thanks so much for this! :) Do you know what the dosage of any of these are and how often do you usually use them?

Update: She seems to be having trouble walking again tonight. She's very quiet and was wobbly and is sitting in a corner right now.

She also threw up some water a few times?? I saw her do that once a few days back and since nothing followed I didn't think much of it but she just did it again tonight. Thrice, by the looks of it. Does anyone know what could be causing that? I'm worried she'll choke and I won't know what to do.

Thanks.

If you think she needs to lay put her in warm water mix up some calcium in a small bowl for her to drink so she gets help to lay.

She only lays early in the morning and she isn't showing any signs of wanting to lay. I can't tell what's wrong. She's lethargic, very quiet, tail pointed down and she keeps shaking her head. I've already given her some calcium tonight. She hasn't vomited again at least.
