Please help! Duck pulling out others feathers :(

We have 4 khaki Campbell ducklings (about 5 weeks old) and 2 Rouen ducklings (3 weeks old). Last weekend we noticed that one of the khakis is pecking and pulling out the other Ducks wing feathers. It is not bothering the little rouens at all. Just the other khakis. It pecks so hard that they bleed. We have all 6 of them in a 4ft x 8ft shed. We just released them into their enclosure today (about 300 square feet with grass and willow trees). The culprit pecking duck is seperated in a kennel with the others. He can't get to them but he can see them. They are not too hot. I don't think the shed is too small. They can eat grass. They have enough water. And I feed them an 18% protein organic broiler mix from the farm store.


I have no idea what to do with this problem. This is the first time I've had ducks. Please help!

Generally, that kind of behavior is thought to possibly be related to overcrowding, but at the same time, some ducks just have prickly personalities. Separation, changing the flock dynamic can help.

I would say, give it some time, try a few different things.

Same thing is happening to me and I am also new to ducks. Separated them and now they are back together in a huge garage plenty of room and it started happening again

i have heard it could also be sexual frustration. In the case of my mallard, he is very aggressive and she’s been making it difficult for him to mate with her. I also supervise them when in water and don’t let him mate with her because he’s hurt her in the past. So now he is resorting to pulling her feathers and eating them.
