One of our hens is not doing well and I'm really not sure what to at this point. I need help.
She stopped laying eggs about 2 weeks ago. Last week I noticed that her feathers under he vent were goopy looking, like an egg broke. I watch her during the day and noticed that she wasn't acting right. She was just standing in one spot, not foraging with her sisters and was puffed up. When I looked closer I could see her actively pushing her vent(quick looks perfectly normal, not inflamed of irritated). I brought her in and over the course of two days gave her warm baths and kept her quiet and warm, offered calcium rich treats and vitamins. The first stuff to discharge was clear with some white strands (looked like cooked egg white), then the more that came out the more white and frothy it became. By the next morning she was acting better so we let her back out. She still acted strange but was eating, drinking, pooping and sort of interested in treats.
Today she's right back to where we started. Her back end feathers are goopy with yellowish/greenish stuff and all she is doing I'd standing by the tree puffed up and sleeping. She will not lay down, I'm assuming it's been uncomfortable and she acts exhausted.
What do we do? Is it time to cull for her sake?
