Hello,
My Duck egg started to pip almost 24 hours ago and there is now a fairly big hole in the outside shell but the inner membrane is yet to be broken. Do I need to assist in any way as I can see the duckling trying to break through the membrane with no luck.
It's my first time hatching an egg so I'm a little nervous.
I've ramped the humidity right up to 80% and even put a damp cloth in the incubator to help. Is there anything else I can do or is all of this completely normal?

It’s fine...let nature do it! Although incubators don’t really fall into that category

I think I've just gone into panic mode as a little part of the exposed membrane is a yellowish colour but the rest of it is white. He's still wiggling around in there so I kbow he's still actively trying.
When should I expect him to start zipping?

Within a few hours...I have had one zip for 8+ hours...there’s no exact answer...but it still hatxhed

So in the last 10-12 hours I've noticed the duckling has managed to make 2-3 really tiny incisions in the membrane but when he's pushing the membrane is still bouncing back like elastic. Is this normal? So sorry for the paranoia!

Did it hatch?
I had to assist a lot but I now have a super healthy looking duckling. Turns out his foot was stuck over its head and the membrane had shrink wrapped preventing it from moving. Thank you for your advice!
My next question is, what temperature should the incubator be as it dries off? I currently have it set to 37.2 celcius.
