If an egg is a dud, will it still have an airsac? I have an egg that I can't really see through, but it doesn't seem to be dark like my other ones. It does have and airsac though.

Also, I have 10 set aside/apart in the incubator of which I feel have either died or might not have developed. Should I take them out or leave them in. I am very scared of something blowing up in there, but would hate to find out I took out a good egg because of ignorance. None smell. One (although not stinky) I think was oozing and I took it out, but not sure what to do with the others.

Can someone please help me?

We have gotten to the end of an incubation and found one or two that, when we cracked them open, had stopped developing early on. I think you could leave them and they will be OK. I think that the problem with exploding happens early on. It's because bacteria gets in and creates gas buildup and then the gas has nowhere to go but out. Good luck to you!! Oh, they will have an air sac -dud or not.

Hi all your eggs will have a air sac in them, even if they don't have a chick in them, or a part developed one. I have been hatching eggs now well over 9 year never had one go pop yet so don't worry about that, you did right to remove the one that you said was oozing, the contents can make problems (bacteria) if left to go bad inside the incubator, any eggs that you can see through, I would turn out, if they don't have long left to hatch then they may have died or not been fertile in the first place, trust me you can tell, depending on the egg colour which have chicks in or not, but there is a chart to help show you how they should look.... https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=261876 ..... have a look at this it will help you, if they don't look anything like this depending on how long they have left to go E.G. 2/3 days to hatch I would turn them out. just one more tip for you as well 21 days to hatch any that don't hatch give a day or so but anything after that leave them as they are, they will tend to cause you more problems if you try to hatch them, at a later date things like, bad feet/legs, breathing problems, and if you intend to keep them and breed from them the ones that hatch late tend to produce chicks that take longer again to hatch, or have over problems, breeding stock should always be from chicks that hatch on there own, strong and healthy, to help give the best chance of good strong young to follow.

What meant to be, will be, what's not meant to be, is best left alone. Hope that helps any problems I am happy to help, pm me with any ?? good luck with a good strong hatch and let nature take its place
