Please help got a 6 week chick with disclocated leg

Here is a picture of a basic chicken sling. You just get an old towel or blanket and cut 2 leg holes in it then securely attach it inside a plastic tote or dog kennel or whatever you have on hand. There are also videos on utube on how to build a chicken sling that will walk you through it step by step if needed. Hope this helps.

Since the injury is old and the bone has grown into the position its in there is nothing any vet could do for it. When I took my pullet in my vet told me that he recomended not to do the surgery because her leg would more then likely just fall off (since its an old injury). If a growing chick dislocates its leg it has to be taken in asap to get fixed. If not there is nothing anyone can do to fix it but it can still live a happy healthy life. As long as Silver continues eating and drinking and looking healthy she will be fine. You did all you could for her leg. Try not to worry to much just give it some time to heal and for her to learn to get around whatever way thats easiest for her. Even if that is by flying instead of walking or just hopping on one leg. I never secluded scooter and I never put her in the sling because I didn't want to stress her out and make things worse. I just let her continue to live as normal and she figured it all out on her own. As long as nobody is bullying silver she would probably be happier just being with the flock and continuing her life as normal. The only thing I did special for scooter is made her a lttle box with some bedding that she can sleep in at night inside the coop with the rest of the flock nearby (she can't fly to the roost yet maybe because she is still young) I also put some extra water dishes around the coop so she doesn't have to go to far to find water. I know how you feel it broke my heart watching scooter limp around. When I took her to the vet I mostly wanted to know if she was suffering and if I should just put her down but now I know she is happy just by watching her it just took her a little time.

I cant put her with my flock they get mean when new chickens come, takes them while to get use to new chickens. Even the hens are mean to each other. I name her bell cuz she a female and name her brother silver he a male I can tell cuz females are smaller. She dont look happy eaither.

If you think she is miserable and suffering or can't live a normal life then you will have to make the decision on wether or not to have her put down. Scooter didn't look happy for a while either. It took her some time before I could tell she was happy again (sometimes she looked very sad that is why I wanted a vets opinion if she was suffering) but scooter always looked healthy other then her limp if not I would have had her put down.

I just meant to have her continue her life as she normally did before she dislocated her leg. Keep her where ever she was and whoever she was with so that things are normal for her and she doesn't get stressed out. It could help her heal faster if she is not stressed out and she will learn to adapt better if she is in her normal everyday living situation. If she was mine I would just give her some time unless she looks like she is in way to much pain and is just suffering. I'm sure you will make the right decision you have been taking good care of her and doing all you can for her.

The vet said she dont look in pain but her leg all the way stright out she is healthy I will see for while and her brother loves her bell. I change it to bell and her brother to silver
