Hello,
I am DESPERATE for help or assistance.
My darling little Pekin ducking has a slipped tendon. I have tried everything and nothing is helping her!
I’m in need of advice on other ways besides taping her legs together because it’s not working.
I need to find out how to set it and get it straightened out but I’m afraid that I will hurt her because I don’t know what I’m doing!
Please help my little girl! 💗

Have you been able to get the slipped tendon back into place? It won’t help to splint or tape the legs if the tendon is not put back in place. I know little about ducks, but with chicks, a slipped tendon has little success of being fixed. The tendon can keep slipping out of place, and it may be more successful if done in the fist day or two of life. Here are some videos on putting the tendon back into place:

Thank you so much! We have no idea how to put it back into place, so hopefully these videos will help! 💗
I just can’t seem to find any information about repairing it and I’m not getting any replies here for some reason.. 😢

Most times a slipped tendon has to be put back in place when first seen. After that chances go down on success. Even when you see if as a day old, the chances are still not great. Many people have no experience with slipped tendons. Many chickens and ducks may get around on one good leg, but it is a disability. If you keep looking, Google slipped tendon in a chick or duck for more info.

I had a duck survive 10 years disabled with a slipped tendon. Unfortunately he slipped it while we were out of town and the person watching our animals didn’t know it had happened, so it went unfixed for a week. He was still able to move himself around and swim with a little difficulty, and the vet determined he wasn’t in pain so we just let it go. He lived a full life regardless, just walked a little funny. As long as you monitor this injury, your duckling could live normally. Just pay attention to any bullying or inability to maneuver himself to get food/water.

I’d also advise against fixing a slipped tendon if you don’t know what you’re doing or aren’t going to an experienced waterfowl vet. You can end up hurting or irritating the injury more and causing your duckling pain.
