Hello Fellow Chicken Farmers,
My Isa hens started plucking out feathers just under their vent & now at the top of their tail. From what I've read, I am guessing they have mites/lice & possibly a vent yeast infection. First their butts looked bruised, now they are black & the tissue under their vent is dying. I've dusted them with 5% Sevens powder & used blue kote to put over black areas. I also started them on Duramician(spelling). Does anyone know if I am on the right tract of thinking of what's wrong? I've cleaned their coop over & over & lightly sprinkled the Sevens powder in the coop as well. They are eating really good. Crops & waddles look ok. Please...any suggestions? My daughter is so attached. I want to call the vet out, but I have no extra money to have a vet come out.
Thank you one & all!!
Sincerely,
