Looks like a rat snake, it will likely eat any mice you have, possibly eggs or small chicks. You can drive it a few miles and release it if you want.

It's a Dekays Brown snake. Completely harmless, nonvenomous. They eat worms, slugs, grubs, etc. He will not hurt your birds.
