I have a Rhode Island Red rooster whom we purchased as a chick last summer. He's a beautiful thing!! Anyhow, I noticed he somehow got locked out of the coop the other night (wouldn't fly back over the fence to get back in) and I noticed him the next morning...he seemed to be doing ok, but was hobbling a bit. I gave him extra hay to lay in to warm his feet. Well, today I checked on him, and his toes are all stiff...they won't bend at all and I am not sure what happened to him. The color is still the same, they aren't black or anything, but he can barely walk....and can't use his toes at all. Is this frostbite, and if so, will we have to put him down? I feel so bad for the guy, please help. I have him in the house right now, trying to help him, but I don't know what to do.
Thanks!
