Hello,

I am thinking of buying this chicken that I found for sale but I only want to buy if this is a hen. Any opinions would be great. The bird is 15 weeks old. I have wanted this breed for a while so would love to get the bird if it is a hen. I am thinking there might be too much by the way of comb and wattles and are those saddle feathers starting to show? I hope this is ok to post. Please help if you can!

Thanks!

My vote is pullet. As far as breed.... hrm.... I'm thinking the OP is not in the USA.

Wow, what a pretty bird. It looks girly to me.

As for the breed, I can't even think of any foeign breeds with that color comb and crest. Is it possible its an Icelandic?

Thanks everyone! The bird is a crested swedish flower hen. :-) I am going to let the seller know that I want the pullet. Thanks!!!

Bummer, I guess I am not getting her. I had it set up that I was picking her up tonight after work but the seller sold her out from under me this morning.... What a shame that you cannot trust people to keep their word... I would have met the seller this morning but they said they were not available until this evening. Sorry to complain but I am quite irritated with them...

Well that's a disappointment! That is a beautiful breed; hope you can find another one with a more reputable person.

I've had this happen more than once from Craigslist. I know for sure on one of them the seller had 2 different folks posting an ad on two different CL areas so one person sold to someone else early in the day when the one I contacted couldn't meet me until the evening. So your seller may not be dis-honorable just dis-organized. You could still ask them to contact you if they have any other pullets come available, you never know. She was very pretty and I hope you find another soon.
