I need help ASAP. I think I might have made things worse for my chick. Yesterday afternoon I had a chick pip the wrong end of the shell. This morning I arrived at work to find that another egg that had pipped in another poor spot had already passed. It's been over 12 hours with the pip in the wrong end, so I made the call to help.

I pealed back the shell only, and was just seeing white membrane. The chick had pipped the shell, but not the membrame. Didn't know which membrane it was. Wetting wasn't showing veining or chick postion. So I got on here and say the pic of the chick with who had pipped the wrong end being helped, and it looked like part of the membrane had been removes. So I chanced it, and tried pealing some. Got some bleeding, and used a paper towel to stop the bleeding and stopped.

I don't know where to go from here. I can't tell where the beak it. I could keep chipping away shell, but I'm not sure how that is helping. These eggs were shipped, and it's looking like they were all malpositoned. So far the only survior I had I helped. I don't want to help early, but I waited to long on another egg, and I'd like to avoid it's fate.

Please Help!

If it's still bleeding you better put it back for another 10-12 hours. You can also use corn starch to stop bleeding. Here is a link I found to be very helpful.https://www.backyardchickens.com/a/step-by-step-guide-to-assisted-hatching Up your humidity too. Chances are if its a circulated bater the membrane is going to get a little dry. I would place it back in the bator on a wet paper towel.

Thank you. Yes, I was going off that post.
My main concern right now is that I don't think it's pipped the outer membrane. I had another chick in this hatch who pipped, but still died in the shell. It's pip was in a bad spot too, and I think it didn't enough oxgen. I didn't want that to happen again.

I did go back and try to just remove the outer membrane so I could see what was happening. Still can't find the beak, which the above link says to try and do. Put him in there to rest, as the inner membranes still show alot of veining. I probably helped too soon and have now made a fine mess of things. But I waited to long on the other guy, and he died. Arg!

. This is why I wanted to avoid helping and was worried about my air sacks (these were shipped eggs and they were all saddle shaped).

Trying to go slow with this little guy.

Well, I'm thinking this doesn't look good. I can't find the beak like the above link suggests. The inner membrane is still has a lot of veins, and when I poke around the area where the pip was, I can't find it's head. By now I've taken off a good bit of shell, and I'm not sure the chick is going to make it.

I'm just kinda lost right now.

It's such a tough decision. I know I can't preach it here because I have broke all the rules myself! I have assisted in two hatches and in one the chick survived and was happy go lucky just hours after being hatched. The last one I assisted could never walk on it own and had to be culled after all. It's a hard thing to watch... nature. With shipping eggs, your right things might not turn out 100% and things like this happen. Hope if anythinng you have learned from this experiance and things go smoother with your next hatch!
