Hi, i got chickens in january. 1x pekin bantam and 2x wyandotte (i think) and recently a belgium who is in quarenteen.
I had been treating them for worms as my pekin bantam went down hill and had all symptoms of worms. Unfortunately it has been quite cold here in Brisbane, Australia and she seem to be having trouble breathing one arvo. I rushed her to the vet and she had severe respiratory issues and died soon after. I was devastated.
Since my pekin died, one of my black chooks has gone broody, and they other one i am worried is alao sick or depressed. I also have a belgium who was unwell and i was treating with oxymav as she had runny eyes and nose and sneezing etc.
I am so worried about my remaining 3 chickens.
Belgium: seemed to recover after a week on oxymav (still in isolation) but still swollen under both eyes and occassional bubbles on eye. She doesn't seem to have anything else wrong with her.
Possibly depressed chicken: my husband looked after them
For a few days after pekin died (i was away). The chicken apparently stayed inside the coop the whole time and refused to eat and drink.
When i came home its eyes seemed puffy and were shut. I bought her inside, washed her eyes as one of the eyelids were was stuck.
Other symptoms: unable to balance and weak on feet. Stiff when she walks. Occassional eating and drink but not miuch. I have been giving her oxymav.Has one eye were the lids stick together but not sure why as her eyes are not weepy. I wash everyday to open them. The skin around this eye seems extremely more red compare to other eye. Not much poop. But when she does it seems normal. Body seems hunched and tail down.
Has gone off laying since te other chicken past and th other chicken went broody. I have been treating her for three days with no improvement.
Broody chicken: is now in coop by herself. Condition seems to be deteriorating due to broodiness. I have notice white flayness around her eyes that looks like she is all dried out. Is this normal?? Should i bring her inside in isolation aswell so i can monitor condition as well as her eggs?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I cannot loose anymore ofy my babies
