Chirping
I've got a 10 day old guinea keet that started out with a mild splayed leg. I had a broody hen hatch some guineas out and I think she ended up squashing this little guy. His leg was going out to the side when I pulled him out of the nest on day 2. I hobbled him and kept him close to me in a separate brooder with a friend. When I hobbled him it didn't seem like it helped. He wouldn't put weight on the leg and kinda hopped around almost like hia foot was injured. I figured he just needed time to adjust and so I monitored him very closely. Jump ahead 6 days and he's doing great. He's almost walking with his leg completely straight. Then the worst thing happens. Yesteray morning when I looked in the brooder he was sitting down in an awkward position. At this point he's still hobbled. When he stood I saw that he wasn't putting his leg down. He had it tucked and was hopping on the other leg. I took off the vet wrap and saw his hock was flat and really swollen. Thanks to a wonderful article I read here I found that he had a slipped tendon and how to fix it. So this morning after reading how to do it several times I held my breath and went for it. Then pop! It went back in place. His shaking stopped and he looked back at me and nussled his little beak into my hand as if to say thank you. So adorable. Well that was short lived. The tendon won't stay in place. He's so strong and he was so close to making a full recovery. I know if I can keep the tendon in place he can make a full recovery from this too. It goes back into place so easily. I tried wrapping it but it just pops right back out. I've read so many posts but the only thing I came across about the wrapping part was a figure 8 wrap. I think that means above and below but I'm not sure. I'm not sure how to do a chick chair either but i havent looked into that yet. How can I keep his tendon from popping back out? Any advice on how to wrap it would be greatly appreciated! TYIA!
