Please help me help my banam with dropped wings

So sorry for your loss. If you would like to know what might have killed her, a necropsy can be done on a refrigerated body by your state vet. If you can perform one yourself, you may find signs of coccidiosis or worms by examining the insides of the intestines, or to find a blockage in the gizzard. It's hard to do a necropsy on a pet, but it helps us find out the cause sometimes. If you need info on your state vet or shipping instructions, let me know.

I have information on who to contact for my state. Just wondering if she died of something contagious that I should be worried about the rest of my chickens. She has been in quarantine since she arrived. At first her cage was about 20 feet from where my chickens were. Then my chickens moved from their brooder to their coop which is about 150 ft away from her cage. Is it possible that they could have come in contact with what she had? Still not even sure of what she had or if it was contagious. Someone had mentioned a stroke as a possible cause for her dropped wings. We also had a lot of fireworks going off last night. Any chance that if she was ill or very old that the sound could have given her a heart attack or something?

I think it is the same thing that kills many of my chickens. Not one has survived that I treated with amoxicillin. I just call it droop wing. If I see they can't hold their wings up like the others, then I know they will lose their appetite and just stand around. Young ones die in about two days. Older ones in about 1 week. And if I don't remove them, the others get it a few days later.

It really doesn't matter much anymore as I lost my entire flock of 60 to fowl pox one week before they were to be sold at market. I made the mistake of buying an infected cock at market to strengthen the bloodline. All 60 chickens died within 4 days but 1. Next time I will secretly immunize like everyone else here! Needless to say, we've eaten a lot of chicken this week and so have our neighbors. Yes we all know they were sick & dying, but doesn't affect the meat and it doesn't make us sick.

later, manok
