Hello, I'm Steve and I am from PA and recently got four hens around a year or so old, With this thread I have a couple of questions. Well my step dad went to pick them up and didn't find out there breed. So my first question is What breed is this hen?? She is currently broody and I am trying to make her stop. But my second question is even though it shouldn't be on this thread. Can somebody tell me how to tell the exact age or close age of these hens to? The pictures I am posting is the broody one. Thank you to anyone that helps! It's greatly appreciated!

I'm not vary familiar with chickens so I don't know but

. I'm sure the experts can give you a accurate answer

I hope that what I am doing for a broody hen works and oh yeah we do not have any roosters, but I read about putting her alone and uncomfortable as possible. And saw similar contraptions to what I put her in so that is why I put her in a wire cage.
And thanks ruffled! I will definitely look up those and compare and stuff!

your welcome steve. if she is a barnevelder I think you will really enjoy her, barnevelders are one of my favorite breeds of chickens. but its very hard to make them give up on being broody in my opinion.

These are my first chickens and there such goofballs, tomorrow I will take better pictures and get pics of my coop, and all four of them, and an egg. If there a mix what would they be mixed with? I also read something about dipping them in cool water a couple time if this doesn't work.

Iv'e got another question also today it was pouring and I went outside to put them in there coop because they were just standing in the rain, and they didn't want to go in or wouldn't let me catch them. It took like 40 minutes... But can they get sick from the rain?

They are OK in the rain. And I think your chickens are Partrige Rocks not Barnevelders
