Please help me identify this tiny bug that bites me

Oops. I'm sorry. That's too funny.

By chance, do they show up when the wild ducks are migrating over your area? Those lice are common in wild birds and I've wondered if they shed a path of them across the country when they migrate.
Where I live (near Seattle) we have wild ducks living year around. I'm not sure if more migrate North at a particular time, I assume they do. I'll pay attention to when they show up this year.

I've recently been using gold bond ultimate radiance renewal hydrating lotion. When I'm out cleaning up the yard near dusk the mosquitoes don't bite me or any other biting bugs. I don't think like the smell of Shea butter. Which is a plus for me, they usually feast on me.

Thanks! I really enjoy shea butter. I'll try that for both mosquitos and the no-see-ums when they come back! I love that it is a non chemical way to deal with them.

I never did figure anything out about them. One guest we had over called them midges, but I don't actually know what they are, how to get rid of them, or if they are bothering my ducks. They still bite me.
Diatemaceous earth spread around will help control them. To us it is a soft powder, at their size it's like glass shards.

The bugs, probably no-see-ums, have appeared again. They arrived about 2 weeks ago, in early July. I haven't had my phone on me to take another photo when they've been biting me.

I'm pretty sure they have nothing to do with my ducks. One of my ducks is on cage rest so I'm not letting them out at the moment and I'm still getting attacked by the bugs. They seem to be in more damp areas, which is probably why I blamed my ducks before. I'm always filling bowls and buckets of water for the ducks and hanging out with them there.

Time for me to go buy some of those products and see how those work!

They’re also called biting midges. And i suffer with them around my ducks as well
Oh? Do you think the biting midges travel on your ducks or just live in damp areas? I live near Seattle so it is wet here often.

I'll have to ask my avian vet if it is a problem for my ducks at their next visit.

I think it’s just wet locations. And because ducks are so wet they’re around all the time. I also don’t think they’re an issue to ducks because I’ve never seen or heard anything about them
