Check the APA SOP. If a bird is off the SOP for it's breed, in your case for silkies ie. lays eggs other than SOP, they are not purebred. Since your birds produced a blue egg they carried the blue egg gene and they were most likely crossed with a blue egg layer sometime in their past so they are crosses. In that case, by virtue of the fact they carried the blue egg gene, they are considered to be Easter Eggers and not silkies. Feed stores sell hatchery stock. Large commercial hatcheries don't sell APA SOP birds. Often, they have crosses in their bloodlines.
