Please help me! My Scarlett is sick!!

Hey everyone, I have a sick hen. She is about 1 1/2 years old and going through her first molt. The last week or so she has been lethargic and unenthusiastic. Her comb has been flopped over, she puked a bunch of water and has had bad diarrhea. She sits all puffed up and doesn’t move much. She is a champions layer and we would be devastated to lose her. What do I do? I’m very worried about her.
What color is she? If she’s a lighter color I recommend slowly checking her body and feathers for lice and/or mites, it may be hard to see but with close vision you might be able to see small little dust looking bugs crawling through the feathers of your hen. Do you have Diatomaceous Earth on hand? I recommend just in case ruffling some of that in your hens feathers and just sprinkling it around the run and coop of the rest of your flock as lice and mites can spread. This is not 100%, but it’s better to be safe then sorry. Also try putting garlic powder in their food or putting a clove of garlic in their water. if you can’t Do that maybe give them apple cider vinegar in their water

I can check for bugs, but I looked at Hatties feathers and she was fine. I haven’t checked Scarletts. We always put apple cider vinegar in their water, and they have DE always in their dirt bath. I can sprinkle some all around though. I can also try garlic. I know we have done it in their food in the past as a preventative. Do you know anything about giving yogurt to sick hens?

Yeah, if you don’t know what to do just try anything that might work, including garlic and DE. For your question about yogurt, I never really gave it to sick hens. I kind of treat it like bread, and only give greek yogurt occasionally as a treat for them. Also, you should give Hattie and Scarlett oregano or probiotics. Oregano is a natural antibiotic for flocks, it boosts immunity and prevents lots of illnesses in poultry. Probiotics is known for making hens eggs bigger, so it might start up your hens system again. And if you do find bugs in Scarlett, give her iron rich foods as some external bugs are bloodsucking. Some iron rich foods that are safe for poultry include spinach and pumpkin seeds.

Ok thank you so much! I don’t have much experience with sickness so this is very helpful!
